The Rt. Rev. Keith Ackerman The Common Cause Partnership is an important next step on the roadmap toward a unified, faithful Anglicanism in North America. The American Anglican Council is pleased to be a part of this journey. Common Cause is quite simply our best hope for a united and faithful future in North America. It allows us to begin living now what we know to be true, that we are one church that shares a common faith, common mission and common order. The Common Cause Partnership is showing the heart of Anglicanism: a variety of faithful expressions of historic Christianity, yet unity in our surrender to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and the authority of Holy Scripture. Common Cause provides a vision for the future as well as mutual support in our common Gospel mission. It never ceases to amaze me that unity is coming out of division. God is good and clearly has a wonderful sense of humour. The Common Cause Partnership is exciting. We're seeing the process of fragmentation reverse in a dramatic way. The fact that we're all around the table, united in our love for Jesus Christ, is a sign that God's Spirit is at work. Common Cause is about fulfilling the mission of the church. Divisions diminishes the credibility and effectiveness of our witness to Christ and the reconciling power of the Gospel. Coming together in Common Cause honors the deep desire of our Lord's heart that His disciples be one.
